A massive thank you to the guys at W. A. Landscapes for the excellent service they have provided us with this week.
Our 1930's ex-local authorities house was built very well but back then there where not many cars around, some years later the council came back and installed driveways and relaid footpaths. The problem with that is they loved to use concrete, a great deal of concrete. Some years ago the home owner we brought the house from decided that concrete was not desirable and lays a gravel / patio combo over the lot. A lot lot lot of concrete!! I started to clear the patio / gravel combo until I discovered "what lies beneath" horror story.
I decided to get some professionals in and the guys from W.A turned up to measure up and book in the work to be done. I was very impressed with the way they explained their method and working practices, listened to my concerns regarding drainage and offered up some style and finishing suggestions which I went along with.
Today was there last day on site, 3 days in total. 5 guys turned up on the Monday with a mini digger and worked for nearly 12 hours straight, they identified the utility lines and took the correct precautions. It was a marvel to see the way they separated the unmovable concrete mass from the boundary walls, pavement etc and then broke it up and took it away. Using some very interesting and innovative techniques they created there own foundation which would lead water away from the house. Then they built up layers of different materials before paving the drive and side access like Roman mosaic artists.
